54 Years of Tradition
Tau Beta Sigma Gamma Omega at the University of Pittsburgh is comprised of marching band members who have made the promise to serve the band and the community, promote the advancement of women in music, and help strengthen the overall sisterhood since its installment on April 19, 1969. We currently have 16 sisters from various sections of the band and are always looking to expand our ranks!
What is TBS?
TBS is short for Tau Beta Sigma, which is a national co-ed sorority dedicated to service in band programs with focus in equity, inclusion, and empowering women. The organization is committed to working in both bands and communities alike to offer helping hands in community projects, musical education, and a number of other services. TBS chapters around the country exist in college bands in order to promote musicianship and leadership in such a way that it can be shared with others.

Who is Gamma Omega?
The Gamma Omega chapter of TBS is part of the Pitt Band at the University of Pittsburgh. We are often the first people new members and returners of the band see as we help check everyone in, pass out Nike gear, and fit each person in their Pitt Band uniform. Throughout the fall semester, we assist in uniform and raincoat care, make sure bandies receive hats and sweatshirts, distribute food during travel, and host fun events that support the members of the Pitt Band. For example, on October 14th of every year, we celebrate Pitt Band’s Birthday by supplying and passing out cupcakes to each member of the band. In the Spring, we are out in the community more, serving at events like Fiddlesticks, a program that offers musical education to young children. As an honorary service sorority, whenever there is service to be done, there will be a TBS sister ready to help!
